The start of a new beginning.

As everyone is aware…today is the last day of 2011. Wow a year has passed in a flash and I’m caught off guard by the bittersweet memories I have for 2011. At the beginning of the year, I never thought this year would be filled with dramas as it was the O’levels year & what else do you do besides study? But, life always take you by surprise. So I had my share of drama this year.

I’m not going to pry into all the life changing events this year because what’s the point? What’s done, is done. No more turning back and wishing you could do things differently. I may/may not have my reasons for the mistakes I made but at the end of the day, it was my choice and if I were to blame anyone - it would be me. Why should I live my life based on my past mistakes/hiccups? Life is too short to be dwelling on things that aren’t meant to be.

If one important thing 2011 taught me, it was to just let loose & live life to the fullest. There was a period in 2011 when everything just…fell into place. It seemed perfect to me and how I hoped for it to last. But of course as we all know, perfection was shortlived. And after weeks of trying to figure out what went wrong, I came to the conclusion that I was starting to have expectations. I had these ideals “perfect” ideas that I thought would come true. But of course (again), who am I kidding? Not long after, I was drowned in my own idea of perfection-to-be. I got hurt, disappointed and furious.So bottomline: Never have any expectations. Live life as if it’s your last.

And friends. Most of the drama involved friends. I lost one, gain one, lost another, gain few more. And while all these was happening, I had one true friend that just there. Never leaving my side. Obviously that’s why she is my best friend.

My only 2012 resolution is going to be about me. I want to be a better daughter, better friend, better sister, better student. Basically, be a better me. Like one of my favourite quotes by Mahatma Gandhi; be the change you wish to see in the world. And that’s exactly how I am going to start my 2012 with.
